An integral part of TDI’s operations is the delivery of risk education to affected communities in an effort to reduce the risk of death and injury from mines, explosive remnants of war, explosive hazards, improvised explosive devices (IED) and weapons (SALW) raising awareness and promoting safe behaviour.  These activities include information exchange with at-risk communities, communication of safety messages to target groups, and support for community risk management.

Gathering intelligence and information by liaising with local communities regarding sightings or findings of UXO or other explosive remnants aids in the surrounding areas in vital to TDI’s day to day operations.  Not only does this greatly enhance our understanding of the threat, it also builds trust and understanding of the clearance work being done.
