SERVICES
As each contract’s parameters and terrain vary, TDI provides the necessary tools to get the job done efficiently and cost effectively.
TDI’s tried and tested clearance methodology, outlined in our UN-accredited corporate Standard Operating Procedures, incorporates the use of manual and mechanically-assisted assets and mine detection dogs (MDDs). Integrating different assets, to suit the terrain and customer requirements, is key to a cost-effective business solution.

Manual clearance
As there will always be a need for the man on the ground, TDI personnel are highly trained to deal with the various threats, terrain and climatic conditions that coincide in each theatre of operations. TDI uses state-of-the-art detection equipment and our personal protection equipment (PPE) is top of the range, ensuring the highest standard of safety to our personnel. To date, TDI has a 100 per cent safety record.
Mechanically-assisted clearance
The use of mechanical assets is a key tool as they can perform vital tasks such as ground preparation, tripwire removal and verification over large areas of terrain, limiting exposure to manual teams as well as speeding up the clearance process. TDI has a number of flails and tillers which are also used for verification purposes.
Mine detection dogs, explosives detection dogs,
narcotics detection dogs and attack dogs
Mine detection dogs (MDDs) play a fundamental part in the clearance process, being able to reduce large areas rapidly and efficiently.
Explosives detection dogs (EDDs) are a key part of security, especially for entry control points, airport baggage screening and building searches.
Narcotics detection dogs (NDDs) are non intrusive and indicate passively.
Attack dogs are primarily used as an effective crowd control asset in the static security field but are also essential as an early warning source.
Battle area clearance (BAC) and explosive ordnance disposal (EOD)
BAC is the systematic search, detection and removal of all items of ordnance and munitions from a specified land area that is known to be free from land mines.
EOD is the destruction of, or rendering safe and harmless, all items of explosive ordnance with the capacity to detonate and so cause injury or damage. TDI EOD operators are able to handle any manner or type of explosive ordnance, including unexploded mortars, cluster munitions and land service ammunition. In the past three years, TDI has completed numerous survey, mine and battle area clearance projects in various theatres using manual, MDDs and mechanical-clearance assets.
Mine risk education
Ordnance and mines are never intended for civilians but, unfortunately, it is generally civilians who are most affected by it. For this very reason, TDI offers various mine risk education (MRE) training packages.
MRE is an essential training programme for any person entering a mine/UXO affected area. The primary aim is to enlighten communities as well as corporations who are generally unaware of the potential lethal threats in their areas of operations or living.
